Weekly Free Card Class: Awesome Otters

Did you know that every Friday, I teach a free online card class on Facebook?  I choose a featured stamp set or bundle, and create 3 different cards using it.  I admit...I was really nervous when I first started doing Facebook Lives.  My voice and hands were shaky, and I couldn't wait for them to be over! Now?  I LOVE stamping with you via Facebook Live!  While it's not quite the same as having everyone in the room for an in-person card class, it's still very fun in its own right.

You can find this free class (and all of my past classes) here:

This past Friday, my featured stamp set was the Awesome Otters stamp set, a Level 1 Sale-a-Bration freebie.  It is ADORABLE!  Check out these super cute cards I made using the otters and our New Horizons Designer Series Paper!

As soon as I saw the DSP on the first card (above), I thought of our trip to Alaska in 2018.  It looks like the ocean, mountains and glaciers that we saw there.  I knew I wanted to pair it with this little otter who is popping up out of the water.  The sentiment is from another new stamp set called Hello Beautiful.  I thought it was perfect for that cute little otter.  I customized my Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon and Faux Sea Glass Shapes with Stampin' Blends Markers.

The second card I made (below) uses some of the New Horizons DSP that reminds me of swimming underwater and looking up to see the sunlight .  I thought it would be perfect for this little otter to be resting in a bed of kelp under the water.  The kelp is punched from another piece of the New Horizons DSP with the Sprig Punch.  This time, I used the Faux Sea Glass Shapes all along the bottom of the card.  I love those embellishments!

Finally, I knew that I wanted to use all of the stamps in the Awesome Otters Stamp Set, so I created a birthday card.  This bright DSP reminded me of the fireworks...the bright colors showing through a smoky haze.  This one is a fun fold, too!  The square panel slides along the "channel" and comes completely off the card to reveal a traditional gatefold card.  So. Much. Fun!
