Product of the Week: Hippest Hippos (Day 4)

It's Day 4 of my Hippest Hippos projects!

All week, I've been sharing projects made using two of our FREE Sale-a-Bration products: the Hippest Hippos Stamp Set and the Hippo Dies.  You can earn each of these products FREE when you place an order of $50 or more!

The question of the day is, "When is a hippo not a hippo?"  When she's a cow, of course!  Check out this adorable COW that I created with the Hippest Hippo Stamp Set!

MOO-wah! ;)

I simply colored the hippo with different colors...nothing else!  Such a simple way to stretch your stamps! For the face and belly, I used Light and Dark Petal Pink Stampin' Blends.  I drew the spots freehand with my Light Basic Black Stampin' Blends Marker.  The flower was done with Dark Poppy Parade and Light Parakeet Party.

UDDER-ly adorable, don't you think?

I'll be back tomorrow with one final 3D project featuring the Hippest Hippos Stamp set and Hippos Dies! You can also shop for all of the products used on this card simply by clicking the product links below:

Product of the Week: Hippest Hippos (Day 3)

I'm back with Day 3 of my Hippest Hippos projects! All week, I'll be sharing projects made using two of our FREE Sale-a-Bration products: the Hippest Hippos Stamp Set and the Hippo Dies.  You can earn each of these products FREE when you place an order of $50 or more!

I said in yesterday's post that today's hippo was my favorite because of the color (Gray Granite.) But, she's also my favorite because she's just so stinking' cute!

Every ballerina, of course, needs a stage, so I created an easel card with a stage for this ballerina hippo using both the Hippest Hippos Stamp Set and Hippo Dies.  The stage curtains are made using the "wave" die from the Hippos Dies!

My card base started with a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of cardstock, scored and folded at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2".  I added a layer of Basic White (4-1/8" x 5-3/8") and floral DSP (4" x 5-1/4").  I adhered these layers to just the bottom half of the card front (below the score line) so that it could be propped open.
For the stage, I started with a 3" x 4" piece of Basic White.  I added a bit of a spotlight behind the hippo by applying Daffodil Delight ink with a Blending Brush.
Next, I adhered a 1/2" x 3" piece of Basic Black for the stage, then matted the whole panel with a 3-1/8" x 4-1/8" piece of Basic Black.  The top of the curtain is a 1" x 3" piece of DSP and the side panels are each 1/2" x 4".  I used the "wave" die to cut the bottom edge of all of the curtain pieces.
I colored the hippos with Gray Granite Stampin' Blends, gave them coordinating tutus and added them to the stage with Stampin' Dimensionals.
To prop an easel card open, you need to include an element inside the card that is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  I stamped the "You're Always on Point" sentiment on a scrap of Basic White, then die-cut it with one of the banners from our new Stylish Shapes Dies.

Aren't they just adorable? They are my favorite hippo cards of the week! However, my FAVORITE project that I created uses the Hippo Stamp Set in a very unexpected way.  Check back here tomorrow to see what else I have up my sleeve for this week! ;)

Don't forget-you can get all of the dimensions for this card PLUS watch me create it in my Hippest Hippos FREE Online Card Class!  This, and all of my past classes, are available in my Free Online Card Classes Facebook Group.  Simply visit the group, click on Media, then Events.  You'll see each card class listed and can watch the replays at any time!

Product of the Week: Hippest Hippos (Day 2)

I'm back today with another cute and colorful card featuring the adorable Hippest Hippos Stamp Set and Hippo Dies.  Remember, each day this week, I'll be sharing a different project made with these FREE Sale-a-Bration products!  You can earn the stamp set or dies FREE when you place an order of $50 or more!

Today's card has a very simple layout that really lets the hippo be the star.  The sketch and dimensions for this card are from a YouTube Channel called Call Me {Crafty} Al.  It is the November 2020 sketch.  The patterned paper is the Butterfly Kisses DSP from our Annual Catalog.  The colors are so bright and fun...they clearly look great with both butterflies AND hippos!

This was not the first time that I paired this fun sketch with the Butterfly Kisses DSP.

I also used them for my Best Butterflies Card Class, one of the classes in my Free Online Card Class series on Facebook.  If you haven't joined that group, I hope you'll click on the link at the bottom of this post and join the fun!

The measurements for this card are:

  • Calypso Coral: 4-1/4" x 11, scored and folded at 5-1/2
  • Basic White: 3-1/4" x 4-1/2"; scraps for hippo and punched label
  • DSP: 1-3/4" x 2-3/4" (floral); 1-1/8" x 2-3/4" (hearts); 1-3/8" x 3" (stripe)
Did you notice that the hippo was a different color?  Yesterday's hippo was Crumb Cake, but today's is Smoky Slate!  Both of these work well, but I think my favorite color for the hippo is Gray Granite.  (I'll share my favorite hippo card with you tomorrow, using Gray Granite!)

If you haven't guessed, I think these hippos are a MUST HAVE! But, just in case you're not convinced yet, I still have a few ideas to share with you this week. :)

Remember, you can get more ideas for these cuties by watching my Hippest Hippos video in my Free Online Card Classes group on Facebook!
This, and all of my past classes, are all available there under Media > Videos.
